The ingredients needed to make Cabbage rolls:
  1. Take 600 g minced meat
  2. Prepare 1 small cabbage
  3. Prepare 1 large onion
  4. Prepare 3 cloves garlic
  5. Get 1 root ginger
  6. Take 7 tbsp. sunseed oil
  7. Get 1 tomato
  8. Prepare 1 tbsp. Cumin
  9. Take 1 tbsp. Paprika
  10. Prepare 1 tbsp. Cayenne pepper
  11. Prepare 1 tsp. Black pepper
  12. Take 1 tbsp. Garam masala
  13. Prepare 1 tbsp salt
  14. Prepare 250 ml water

Cut out the thick vein from the bottom of each leaf, making a V-shaped cut. Lay flap side down in a heavy Dutch oven. Serve with a dollop of sour cream. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

Steps to make Cabbage rolls:
  1. Wash, peel and chop all the vegetables that's onion, garlic, ginger and tomato. Wash the cabbage, remove the stem and set them aside.
  2. In a saucepan, pour oil and let it heat up then add the minced meat. Stir it for a few minutes until it starts to turn color.
  3. Add the onions and continue stirring until the onions are soft and translucent then add the garlic and ginger while continuing to stir.
  4. Add salt, stir and let it cook for a few minutes. Add the spices and stir until well combined. Cook this for 3mins then add the tomatoes. Stir this and let it cook for 5mins.
  5. Add the water and let the meat simmer for 10mins or until cooked.
  6. Once the meat is properly cooked and all the water has evaporated, remove from heat and let it cool.
  7. In the meantime, place water in a saucepan and it come to a boil. Once it has boiled submerge the cabbage withe cut end at the bottom of the pan and boil the cabbage for 5mins.
  8. Once the cabbage is boiled remove from the saucepan, place it on a rack or tray and let it cool.
  9. Once the cabbage and minced meat are cooled, it's time to roll them up. Spray the baking tray with oil and preheat the oven to 160c for 10mins.
  10. On a clean working surface or chopping board, get a leaf of cabbage and place 2 tbsp of minced meat in the center of the cabbage leaf. Fold and tuck in the sides like you would a burrito then place it on the baking tray. Repeat the process until all the minced meat is done and place in the oven.
  11. Bake the cabbage rolls for 10-15mins. Remove from the oven and serve them while hot.

Serve with a dollop of sour cream. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Place about ¼ cup of meat mixture in center of each cabbage leaf, and roll up, tucking in ends. Cabbage rolls can vary depending on the origin, the Polish version usually contains meat and rice while the Ukrainian version generally contains only rice. I use a combination of beef & pork for the best flavor but you can use any type of ground meat for these easy cabbage rolls.
